The traditional approach to getting media attention has involved spending a lot of money and journalists having inboxes full of messages they don't read. This approach no longer makes sense in an era where services like LinkedIn and Facebook are transforming how we connect.
At mediaspot.me we unlock the power of human knowledge by helping journalists and people with expertise connect. The result is better guests for journalists and greater media attention for those with expertise.
Public relations can be that simple.

Before leaving to pursue mediaspot.me I was a current affairs TV producer on TVO's The Agenda with Steve Paikin, often described as Canada's Charlie Rose.
Working as a TV producer was an outgrowth of reports I did for CBC Radio while working in the former Soviet Union and an insatiable curiosity for the world that drove me to study politics (MA, Université Laval) and learn languages (I speak French, Russian and Greek). You can catch the podcast I ran while in Kazakhstan here.
At The Agenda I was looking for insightful people with particular expertise on a daily basis. It was often a painful process and the tools available were weak considering how the internet continues to redefine how we connect.
One of my less apparent skills is around elections. I have worked as an international election observer in Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Moldova as well as with Elections Canada domestically. In 2004, I was in Ukraine for the second round presidential election re-vote that brought Viktor Yushchenko and the "Orange Revolution" to power.

Prior to mediaspot.me I worked at several large companies where I was part of complete software development cycles (design, build, debug and quality assurance). Memorable projects include designing an interface for radars, writing automation code for a production-line packaging device, and generating heating profiles for jet engines.
I'm a big believer in employing software solutions to solve inefficiencies. While at the University of Waterloo I was part of a team that assembled a "smart speed bag" to perfect boxing technique. Well before that, I wrote a pseudo-OS in good old Turing! My degree is in Mechatronics Engineering.
